We know that this is a new term in the care industry of Nigeria. However a nursing home, Skilled
Nursing Facility (SNF) or Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU), is a place of residence for people who require
constant medical care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Residents
include: the elderly and younger adults with physical disabilities. Adults 18 or older can stay in a
nursing home to receive occupational and other rehabilitation therapies following an accident or
illness.
Skilled nursing care, though often associated with seniors, does only apply to seniors. There could
be need for long-term nursing care due to an injury or illness, or short-term concentrated
rehabilitation while recovering from a surgical procedure or acute medical condition. GNCC provides
skilled generic healthcare services 24hrs/day. Regardless of the nature or complexity of the medical
care required the aim is to residents to their original living situation as soon as possible.

- Seminars need supervised attention on a short-term basis.
- Seniors considering an independent or assisted living community may want to try out the experience themselves.
- Seniors need adult day programs.

GNCC offers day programs for seniors who need supervising and stimulation doing the day while their
primary caregiver is at work or otherwise occupied during daytime hours. Instead of staying at home,
seniors can come to the senior living center and enjoy social interaction and recreational
activities in a safe and supportive environment.
